Their customers span a wide range of industries including electronics, engineering and advanced materials research. X-Tek is dedicated to advancing Microfocus systems with an emphasis on the PCB and electronic component industries. This can be applied through improved information & imaging technology for the identification of flaws thus leading to better process controls which provide profit improvement opportunities for their clients through better X-ray NDT software and associated systems.
Role in project
X-Tek will provide the knowledge and engineering expertise to develop microfocus X-ray systems for inspecting PCB assembly in-line.
Specifically they will be involved in research aimed at advancing X-ray technology particularly in the areas of X-ray tube development.
The key areas for advancement are developing sources that are quick in operation whilst maintaining its functionality and superior quality and
reliability. X-Tek also have a large technical role in the project in software development, associated with provision of 3D representation and
defect detection algorithms and with the requirements of integrating NDT systems.
Reasons for participating
For X-Tek, this project is consistent with their current management strategy of increasing their share in the microfocus X-ray software and hardware
market within the PCB industry. This together with their already proven expertise in the technology area of X-ray inspection will consolidate their
market share in the sales of microfocus X-ray systems.
